Written by a competitor. VortechPro is one of the alternatives on this list, so read it with that in mind. We use public pricing pages and change logs, say where Workiz is genuinely better, and tell you when to stay put.
Still true November 2026
Workiz no longer publishes its prices. Every plan (Standard, Pro, Ultimate) says “Request pricing” in November 2026. The last public list prices, from May 2026, were Standard $275/mo and Pro $325/mo. Extra users were listed at $55–$65 per user per month on annual billing until August 2026, when those numbers came off the page too. If you want to know what your next hire costs before you get on a sales call, here are the alternatives that publish it.
- Dispatch-heavy shops (plumbing, HVAC, locksmith, garage door, electrical, towing): VortechPro: $99/mo for 5 techs, +$20 each, GPS and photos included.
- Similar all-in-one CRM: Housecall Pro or Jobber.
- Tight budget: Kickserv. Lots of office users: Service Fusion. Large operations: ServiceTitan.

Workiz built a loyal following with one thing most field service tools treat as an afterthought: the phone. Calls come in, get recorded and tracked to the ad that drove them, and turn into jobs without anyone retyping a name and address. For a locksmith or garage door shop living on Google Ads, that’s a real advantage.
But in 2026 a lot of owners started shopping around, and the reason is usually the same. The bill got harder to predict. Workiz changed its public pricing more than half a dozen times this year, then took the numbers off the page entirely. This guide covers six alternatives that still publish what they charge, what each one is actually better at, what it costs at your headcount, and when you should just stay on Workiz.
Why shops leave Workiz
- You can’t see the price. As of November 2026, Standard, Pro, and Ultimate all say “Request pricing.” You have to book a demo to learn what you’d pay.
- Extra users were the most expensive on this list. Before the numbers were removed in August 2026, Workiz listed extra users at $55/mo on Standard and $65/mo on Pro, billed annually. That’s nearly three times VortechPro’s $20 per added tech.
- Monthly billing went away. PricingSaaS’s change log shows Workiz removing monthly billing for its plans in June 2026, leaving annual pricing.
- The good stuff is sold separately. Genius Phone, Genius Answering, and Genius Marketing are all listed as “sold separately” on the pricing page, on every plan.
- Common features are on the top plan. Service plans, checklists, multi-day jobs, inventory, equipment tracking, purchase orders, Zapier, and the open API are all Ultimate features, and Ultimate has never had a public price.
- Short trial. The free trial is 7 days. That’s barely one week of real calls.
When to stay on Workiz
Switching costs time and some pain. Stay if:
- The phone system is the product for you. If call tracking by ad source and creating jobs from calls is how you run the business, and it works, that’s hard to replace.
- You use Genius Answering and it’s booking jobs you’d otherwise miss after hours.
- You just signed an annual plan. Ride it out, run a trial of something else near renewal, and decide with real numbers.
- Your quote came in good. Workiz pricing is negotiated now. If your rep gave you a number that beats the alternatives at your headcount, get it in writing and stay.
Workiz pricing in 2026: what changed
Workiz has made more public pricing changes this year than any other major field service platform we track. Here are the big ones, from PricingSaaS’s public change log:
| When | What changed |
|---|---|
| March 2026 | Monthly payment option removed for extra users; extra users listed at $55 (Standard) and $65 (Pro) on annual billing |
| April 2026 | Plan prices hidden behind “Request pricing” |
| May 2026 | Prices shown again: Kickstart $225/mo, Standard $275/mo, Pro $325/mo; Ultimate “Let’s talk”. Hidden again a week later |
| May 2026 | Extra-user rates moved between $46–$55 (Standard) and $54–$65 (Pro) in back-to-back weeks |
| June 2026 | Kickstart plan removed; monthly billing removed |
| August 2026 | Per-user prices removed from the page; all plans quote-only |

None of that makes Workiz a bad product. It does mean the number you got last year, or the one on a review site, may not be the number you’ll get today. Ask for it in writing.
Quick comparison table (2026)
Public list prices checked in November 2026. “~5-tech price” lines each tool up at about five field users. Confirm live before you buy.

Tired of asking what your next hire costs?
VortechPro is $99/mo for 5 techs and $20 for each one after that, on the website, no sales call. GPS, photos, CSV export, and tiered dispatch included. 30-day free trial, no contract.
VortechPro: best for dispatch-heavy trades
VortechPro
VortechPro is built for the same shops Workiz has always courted: plumbing, HVAC, locksmiths, garage door, electrical, towing, and mobile mechanics, where the money comes from calls that need a tech today. Where Workiz leads with the phone, VortechPro leads with dispatch. Uber-style Platinum / Gold / Silver tiers offer each job to your best techs first with a short exclusive window (about 30 seconds), then cascade. Within a tier, the closest tech wins. Specialist tags keep specialty work on qualified techs. Live GPS map, job photos, job-tied chat, CSV export, automated commission splits, and native iOS and Android apps. Immediate and scheduled jobs live on one board.
Better than Workiz at: published per-tech pricing, the cost of adding techs, a longer trial, and getting the right tech on a job fast.
Worse than Workiz at: phones. VortechPro has no built-in phone system, call tracking, or AI answering. You’d keep your phone setup separate (see replacing the phone system). Trade-specific breakdowns: locksmiths, garage door, plumbers, towing.
Housecall Pro: the polished all-in-one
Housecall Pro
Housecall Pro is the most common place Workiz users land when they want a similar all-in-one with a public price. It’s strong on online booking, reviews, follow-ups, and marketing.
Published plans: Basic $59 annual / $79 monthly (1 user); Essentials $149 / $189 (5 users); MAX $299 / $329 (8 users), then $35 per extra user. Recurring service plans, route optimization, and the sales proposal tool are MAX features.
Better than Workiz at: booking, marketing, and published pricing. Worse at: built-in phone handling, and the jump from 5 to 6 users. More: how much Housecall Pro really costs and Housecall Pro alternatives.
Jobber: best for quoting
Jobber
Jobber is strongest when a job starts with a quote: estimates, client hub, approvals, follow-ups, invoicing, and online booking.
Published plans by team size: Core $29–$49 (1 user); Connect 5 users $149 annual / $199 monthly; Connect 10 users $229 / $299; Grow 5 users $229 / $299; Plus 5 users $399 / $499. Extra users are $29/mo.
Better than Workiz at: quoting, client communication, and published pricing. Worse at: phone handling, and it has no tiered dispatch. More: Jobber vs Housecall Pro and Jobber alternatives.
Kickserv: the budget option
Kickserv
Kickserv’s published plans are low for the number of users: Start $60/mo for 5 users, Run $119/mo for 10 users, Scale $199/mo for 20 users, with 20% off for annual billing. Dispatch mapping, GPS check-ins, and custom fields start at Run. QuickBooks Desktop is an extra $50/mo.
Better than Workiz at: price per user and transparency. Worse at: phones, polish, and automation. If you need a dispatch map, budget for Run, not Start.
Service Fusion: unlimited users
Service Fusion
Service Fusion includes unlimited users on every plan: Starter $245 monthly / $208 annual; Plus $382 / $325; Pro $627 / $533. All plans are month-to-month. Job photo uploads start at Plus, GPS fleet tracking is an add-on on every plan, and the customer portal is Pro-only.
Better than Workiz at: cost once you have many users, including dispatchers and CSRs, and month-to-month terms. Worse at: entry price for small teams. More: best dispatch software for air duct cleaning.
ServiceTitan: for large operations
ServiceTitan
ServiceTitan is the enterprise option: deep reporting, memberships, pricebooks, call center tools, and multi-location management. Like Workiz today, it doesn’t publish list prices. User reports commonly describe a few hundred dollars per tech per month plus implementation fees and annual contracts.
Better than Workiz at: depth for big, membership-driven companies with a real call center. Worse at: cost and setup time for small teams. More: what ServiceTitan really costs and ServiceTitan alternatives.
What your next tech costs
This is the number that matters when you’re growing. Here’s what each platform charges, or last charged publicly, to add one more field user:
| Platform | Cost to add one tech | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| VortechPro | $20/mo | Past the first 5; monthly, no contract |
| Jobber | $29/mo | Larger teams may move to the next team-size band |
| Housecall Pro | $35/mo | On MAX, past 8 users. The 6th user on Essentials means moving to MAX |
| Workiz | Quote only | Last listed publicly at $55 (Standard) / $65 (Pro) per month, annual billing, before August 2026 |
| Kickserv | Plan band | Start covers 5 users, Run 10, Scale 20 |
| Service Fusion | $0 | Unlimited users, but plans start at $208–$245/mo |
At five added techs, $20 versus $55 is a difference of $175 a month, or $2,100 a year, before anything else on the bill. That’s the whole pitch: VortechPro’s software is cheaper per technician, and you can see the price without a demo.
Cost at 3, 5, 8, 12, and 20 techs
Monthly billing, published list prices, software only. Workiz isn’t in this table because it no longer publishes prices; ask your rep to fill in the same five numbers. Planning numbers, not quotes.
| Techs | Housecall Pro | Jobber Connect | VortechPro |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3 | Essentials $189 | 5-user band $199 | $99 |
| 5 | Essentials $189 | $199 | $99 |
| 8 | MAX $329 | 10-user band $299 | $159 |
| 12 | MAX $329 + 4 × $35 = $469 | 15-user band $399 | $239 |
| 20 | MAX $329 + 12 × $35 = $749 | Contact sales | $399 |
Replacing the Workiz phone system
This is the part people worry about, and it’s fair. If you leave Workiz, you’re also leaving Genius Phone. Here’s how most shops handle it:
- Port your numbers first. Your business numbers can be ported to a standalone VoIP provider. Start the port before you cancel, and don’t cancel until it completes.
- Keep call tracking separate. Dedicated call tracking tools give you ad-source numbers and recordings, and they work with any field service software.
- Google Ads and LSA still track calls. Google’s own call reporting covers a lot of what small shops actually use.
- Ask yourself honestly how much you use it. If your dispatcher answers the phone and types the job in anyway, the built-in phone may not be saving as much as it costs.
Best Workiz alternative by trade
- Locksmith, garage door, towing, mobile mechanic: VortechPro. These are the classic Workiz trades, and they live on same-day dispatch. See mobile mechanics.
- Plumbing, HVAC, electrical with 2–30 techs: VortechPro, for tiered dispatch and per-tech pricing.
- Carpet and air duct cleaning: see our carpet cleaning and air duct guides.
- Handyman and general home services: Housecall Pro or Jobber for booking and quoting; Kickserv on a budget.
- Landscaping and pest control: see our landscaping and pest control guides.
- Large, membership-driven HVAC and plumbing: ServiceTitan.
Questions to ask in every demo
How to switch off Workiz
- Check your renewal date. Workiz moved to annual billing in 2026. Plan the switch around your renewal.
- Start porting your phone numbers. Do it early. A port can take days to a couple of weeks, and you don’t want a gap.
- Export your data. Customers, job history, price list, and any service plans. Keep a copy even after you switch.
- Run both for two weeks. Put new jobs in the new system while scheduled jobs finish in Workiz.
- Move payments last. Make sure card payments work on a real job before you turn off the old setup.
- Update your links. Booking links on your website and Google Business Profile need to point to the new system.
- Cancel once the last scheduled job in Workiz is done and your numbers have ported.
Verdict
Stay on Workiz if the built-in phone system and AI answering are central to how you book work, and your quote at your headcount is competitive in writing.
