Field service technicians can now charge customer credit cards directly in the Vortech app — no terminal, no third-party app, no middleman. Funds go straight into your Stripe account.
Starting today, Vortech subscribers can connect their Stripe account and enable their technicians to accept credit card payments in the field. This is the biggest update to the Vortech platform since launch — and it changes the economics of running a field service business.
Here is exactly what changed and why it matters.
What Is Stripe Connect?
Stripe Connect is Stripe's platform for businesses that process payments on behalf of other businesses. In Vortech's case, it means each subscribing company connects their own Stripe account directly. When a technician charges a customer, the money goes straight into that company's Stripe account — not through Vortech, not through a third party.
Vortech takes a 1% platform facilitation fee on each transaction. That is separate from Stripe's standard processing fees. Everything else goes directly to you.
How It Works
- Office setup: Open the office menu, tap Connect Stripe, agree to terms, authorize via Stripe. One-time setup. Takes 60 seconds.
- In the field: When a tech completes a job, they select Credit Card as the payment method. The Stripe payment form opens directly in the app.
- Customer pays: The customer enters or taps their card on the tech's phone. Payment processes instantly.
- Revenue split: The system calculates the tech's cut automatically on the charged amount. Office sees the breakdown immediately.
- Funds: Money lands directly in your Stripe account. Vortech never holds or touches your funds.
Cash and other payment methods are still fully supported. Credit card is an option, never a requirement. Techs choose the payment method at job completion.
